Akshardham Temple<\/p><\/div>\n

Akshardham <\/em><\/strong>temple located in east Delhi near Yamuna Bank. It is the large temple crafted entirely of stone and has no support from steel or concrete. The temple is an important landmark of Delhi.The temple brilliantly showcases the essence of India\u2019s ancient architecture, traditions, timeless spiritual messages, ageless art, culture and timeless values. Approximately 70 percent of all tourists who visits Delhi visit this majestic temple. This timeless beauty has its place in Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Akshardham means the eternal, divine abode of the Supreme God.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The idol of Sri<\/strong> Swaminarayan<\/strong> (the prime deity of the temple) is placed at the center of the temple along with many other gods and goddesses of of Hindu Religion. Each idol in the temple is made up of five metals in accordance to Hindu Religion.<\/p>\n

There is a Hall of Values<\/em><\/strong> aka Sahajanand Pradarshan <\/em><\/strong>which portrays Swaminarayan\u2019s<\/strong> message about the importance of peace, harmony, humility, service to others and devotion to God. The garden of India aka Bharat Upvan<\/em><\/strong> is lined with bronze statues of notable figures of India, including Mahatma Gandhi. There is a fascinating boat-ride which takes you to 10,000 years of India’s glorious heritage. The temple also showcases a musical fountain at Yagnapurush<\/em><\/strong> Kund<\/em><\/strong> echoing Vedic sentiments and prayers. The Yagnapurush<\/em><\/strong> Kund <\/em><\/strong>is India\u2019s largest step well. During the day, these steps provide resting place for the visitors and at night, it transforms into a musical fountain show representing the circle of life.<\/p>\n

\"Akshardham\"<\/p>\n

The temple complex is very huge and walking may make you feel hungry.  There is Snacks Point located near the Yagnapurush<\/em><\/strong> Kund, <\/em><\/strong>here you can have regular snacks and cold drinks. For proper meals, you have to go to the Premati Ahargruh or the Premvati Food Court which is a complete and pure vegetarian restaurant designed as the Ajanta<\/em><\/strong>–Ellora<\/em><\/strong> caves of Maharashtra. The restaurant caters a wide variety of traditional dishes of India. It includes South Indian dishes such as Dosa<\/em><\/strong>, Idli<\/em><\/strong>, Vada<\/em><\/strong> etc. as well as North Indian dishes like Chhole<\/em><\/strong> Bhature<\/em><\/strong>, lassi<\/em><\/strong>. The restaurant also offers Dhokla<\/em><\/strong> (a Gujarati dish). Poori<\/em><\/strong>–Sabji<\/em><\/strong> is also available here. The sweets are also delicious and mouth-watering. Varieties of sweets are available here like Malai<\/em><\/strong>– Barfi<\/em><\/strong>, Rajbhog<\/em><\/strong>, Ras<\/em><\/strong>–malai<\/em><\/strong>( all are made up of milk)along-with Misti<\/em><\/strong>–dahi<\/em><\/strong> (sweetened flavored yoghurt). Rajbhog <\/em><\/strong>and Malai-Barfi <\/em><\/strong>are simply awesome. Other than these, there are lots of counters selling snacks, ice-creams, juice and tea-coffee.<\/p>\n

Useful and Helpful tips for visitors:<\/h2>\n

Akshardham Temple opens from Tuesday to Saturday between 09:30am to 06:30 pm. It is closed on Mondays. Premvati restaurant is open between 11:00 am to 08:00 pm. Night lights are turned on every night. Musical fountain starts at 06:00 pm. Exhibition timings are 10:00 am to 06:00 pm. The show at Hall of Values lasts for 1 hour and boat ride will take 15 minutes to complete.<\/p>\n

Things to note:<\/h2>\n

Entry to the temple premises and the garden is free. Electronic items are allowed in the complex (No mobile phone and cameras). Cloakrooms are available at the complex. Ticket for Hall of Values<\/em><\/strong>  and Boat Rid<\/strong><\/em>e is 170 INR, children below 04 years of age have free entry but children between 04 years to 12 years have a fee of 100 INR and people above 12 years have to pay full fee. Other facilities available at the temple premises are cloakroom, visitor\u2019s centre, wheel-chair, parking facility, waiting room, Lost and Found Department, Telephone booth and drinking water. Alcohol, Pets, Smoking, Cameras, mobiles and out-side food are strictly prohibited.<\/p>\n

Getting There:<\/h3>\n

Metro<\/strong>: You can take the direct metro on blue line going towards Noida City Centre <\/em><\/strong>and deboard at Akshardham <\/em><\/strong>metro station. Or you can hire a Taxi.<\/p>\n
